Warranty & Terms
These terms apply to all mail-in repair services provided by Iron Point Repair LLC ("we," "us"). By submitting a repair request, checking the consent box, paying a deposit, or shipping us a device, you agree to these terms. Written in plain English on purpose — if anything is unclear, ask us before you ship.
90-day repair warranty
Every repair we perform is warranted for 90 days from the date your device ships back to you. The warranty covers the specific repair we performed and the parts we installed. If the same fault recurs within the warranty period, mail the device back and we will re-repair it at no charge, including return shipping.
The warranty does not cover:
- Physical damage occurring after the device is returned to you (drops, crushed ports, bent boards, damage in your possession or in transit back to us without adequate packing);
- Liquid exposure of any kind, before or after our repair;
- Failures unrelated to the repair we performed (a repaired HDMI port does not warranty the disc drive, power supply, or any other subsystem);
- Complications arising from prior third-party repair work, including damaged pads, missing components, or non-standard parts we did not install.
Re-repair is your sole and exclusive remedy under this warranty. If we determine a warranty re-repair is not possible, we will refund the price you paid for the original repair, and that refund is the full extent of our warranty obligation.
Deposit & diagnostic policy
Approved repair requests require a $50 deposit, paid before you ship. Diagnosis is free. The deposit is not a diagnostic fee: if we complete your repair, the full $50 credits toward your repair total.
- If we decline the job — whether at request review or after diagnosis on the bench (including devices we determine cannot be repaired) — your deposit is refunded in full.
- If you decline the quote after diagnosis, the deposit is retained to cover return shipping and diagnostic time, and your device is shipped back to you.
- If you approve the quote, the deposit credits toward the total and the balance is due before the repaired device ships back.
Declined repairs & refunds
We review every request before anything ships and may decline any job at our discretion (for example, severe liquid damage or devices beyond economical repair). If we decline before you ship, you owe nothing and any deposit paid is refunded in full. If we decline after diagnosis, your deposit is refunded in full and your device is returned to you. Quotes are firm: the price you approve is the price you pay, and no repair balance is due until you have approved the quote with photo documentation of the work.
Your device in our care
Mail-in repair means trusting us with your hardware, so here is exactly where responsibility sits while your device is on our bench. Devices in our possession are stored securely and are handled only by the technician performing your repair.
- Inherent repair risk. Devices arrive at our bench already faulty, and board-level micro-soldering on a damaged board carries real, irreducible risk. Hidden liquid damage, prior repair attempts, or latent board faults can cause a device to fail further, or prove unrepairable, during diagnosis or repair. By shipping us a device you accept this risk, and we are not liable when a pre-existing or latent fault surfaces or worsens during properly performed work.
- Damage or loss caused by us. If your device is lost, or is damaged through our own error, while in our possession, our liability is capped at the fair market value of the device in the faulty condition in which it arrived, and is in all cases subject to the Limitation of liability below.
Shipping & liability in transit
You are responsible for inbound shipping and for packing your device adequately (rigid box, at least 2 inches of padding on all sides, per the packing slip we provide). We are not liable for damage or loss that occurs during inbound transit; claims for inbound damage are between you and your carrier, so we recommend purchasing carrier insurance for the device's value. Do not ship anything until your request is approved and your deposit is paid — unsolicited packages cannot be checked in properly.
Return shipping is included in our repair pricing, and every return shipment is sent with tracking. Risk of loss or damage in return transit lies with the carrier: if a return shipment is lost or damaged, we will file and pursue the carrier claim and pass any recovery through to you, and our own liability for return transit remains subject to the Limitation of liability below.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the total aggregate liability of Iron Point Repair LLC arising from or relating to any repair service — including the warranty above, the work performed, and your device while in our care or in transit back to you — is capped at the amounts you actually paid us for that repair or, where the "Your device in our care" section applies, the fair market value described there. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost profits, lost enjoyment, lost data, or the replacement cost of the device. The remedies stated in these terms are your sole and exclusive remedies. Our prices are set based on this allocation of risk; it is part of what keeps board-level repair affordable. If applicable law does not allow part of this limitation, our liability is limited to the smallest amount the law permits.
Data disclaimer
Our board-level repairs (HDMI ports, charge ports, retimer ICs) do not involve your storage, saved games, or accounts, and we do not access your personal data. However, we cannot guarantee data integrity on a device that arrives faulty, and we are not responsible for any loss of data, saves, or account access. Back up your data before shipping if your device is capable of it.
Abandoned devices
If a device remains unclaimed for 60 days after we notify you that it is ready to return — including declined quotes and unrepairable devices — and we cannot reach you at the contact details you provided, the device is considered abandoned and will be recycled. We will make reasonable attempts to contact you by email before that happens.
Governing law & disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Montana, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Montana. Talk to us first: nearly every problem can be fixed in one email, and we would rather fix it than argue about it. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the remainder stays in effect. These terms are the entire agreement between you and us for your repair, and the version published when you submit your repair request is the version that applies to it.
